I have several Orange County friends who only read the L.A. Times ... not the Register. Conversely, other friends tell me they only read the Register ... never The Times.
I read both papers. If I didn't, I would have missed these two Register editorials. I posted my reaction to the first, "John Eastman clearly hurt our democracy," last week on this blog. Today, I'm back with another reaction to a Register editorial. This one's entitled "Donald Trump's vile attack on migrants."
By now, you undoubtedly have read or heard what the former president keeps saying about immigrants "poisoning the blood of our country." It's a far cry from what Ronald Reagan used to say. "As a beacon of freedom and opportunity, no country on earth comes close. This, I believe, is one of the most important sources of America's greatness."
Donald Trump doesn't believe this at all. Nor do millions of his followers. According to the Register, "Trump wants his supporters to judge migrants as a threat to be rooted out and stopped, rather than given a fair chance at integrating into our nation." If you ask me, this is NIMBY on steroids.
Personally, I don't care which paper my friends read in the morning. What I do care about is this final paragraph in today's Register editorial. "Trumpism has poisoned the blood of the Republican Party, the American conservative movement and American political discourse."
Raise your hand if you agree. Better yet, turn these words into action. If you are a Democrat, stop complaining about Joe Biden's age and start supporting his reelection efforts. And if you are a Republican, stop sitting silently on the sidelines hoping Donald Trump's vile views will somehow magically disappear. They won't.

the worst thing for me is being asked for democrat money on my cell. i'm never going to donate through the ether so i report junk and it hurts me to do it...
Well said, or written, or typed! Anyway I read both… and I subscribe to the OCR for the puzzles and the puzzling OpEds.
LAT for the local news( the almost nonexistent Daily Pilot) and the better grasp on reality Opinions there.
Thanks Denny…
