Trump would never agree to honoring those who died during the pandemic because he was so inept at dealing with it. He would like all mention of it silenced. Fortunately, we had strong leaders like Dr Fauci and Governor Newsom who were there to help the majority survive.

What is amazing to me is that people have forgotten what an ineffective leader he was and many are watching him destroy our democracy without emitting a sound.

Nope. Don't need it. Don't want it. I see a massive waste of taxpayer money to build statues honoring a variety of people primarily meant to please Trump's base. And - in my opinion - the list contains many people that (A) already have statues in their home towns or public places like the Capitol Mall, cemeteries or the baseball hall of fame or (B) are questionable as "American Heroes."

Henry Ford? You mean the racist who supported Hitler and promoted Nazism during WWII? Alex Trebec? A TV game show host? Father Junipero Serra? The Spanish priest that enslaved Mexican and American indigenous people wherever he went? I could go on. And on.

Most of the actual "heroes" on the list already have statues and/or monuments (Lincoln, Washington, Jefferson, Ben Franklin, etc.).

So I say nay.
