Oh I get it. You are doing an amazing job. I'll toss the idea out to a few parents when families return from spring break. Best, MJ

Oh didn't know that. Thanks for link. I was thinking more of a less formal effort on our landmark beach with hundreds of Laguna residents of all ages singing. Un-rehearsed community togetherness fun. Videographer could just walk down the line capturing it. Think when folks sing the national anthem together...its real - even if off key sometimes. Just a thought. Good luck with the song promotion, I hope it catches on and makes an impact! Best, MJ

As I'm sure you can appreciate, I'm up to my eyeballs in several elements of "Ukraine Shall Overcome." Like you, I thought about 20 school-age kids singing the song. But that would require parental approval just for starters. If you want to organize a community sing-out at Main Beach, I'll be happy to show up (but that's the most I can offer). Hope you understand.

Denny, thank you for your outreach efforts to bring much needed attention to this world shattering situation. How about we enlist Laguna Beach residents to get together to sing the song as well? We have enough random and professional local talent here to coordinate the singing of this remake loudly and proudly. We could gather a group together in the form/colors of the Ukraine flag on the sand at Main Beach. Just a thought...MJ

MJ ... I like your idea, but it's kinda been done. Two weeks ago, the LagunaTunes Community Chorus recorded a version, and then performed it live at the museum last week. Here's their rendition. https://youtu.be/6TE1Vp-S_SY Keep sending me your ideas.

Denny...Joan Baez went to the same high school as me but graduated before I started, but in the height of her career she came back to Redlands and did a free concert at the high school for all the students and then did one at University of Redlands. It was amazing to hear her. Hope she responds positively to your request.

Nancy: You and me, both. By the time I graduated from Cubberley in '66, Joan was an int'l star. Because I was born and raised in Palo Alto, it was great knowing she had graduated from Palo Alto High.

Her family lived in Redlands for many years and were part of the community but years later she blasted the residents of Redlands for treating them as second class citizens....which everyone was very surprised with...I think that is why she came back to Redlands to do the concerts. I didnt know she went to Palo Alto HS as well as attending schools in Redlands...I love her voice and music. I hope she will participate in the Ukraine song.
