Modern-day versions of Pinocchio
No longer just a movie
Disney's “Pinocchio” is one of the best loved movies of all time. It's the story of Geppetto, the woodcarver, who creates a puppet yearning to become a real boy. From time to time, Pinocchio strays from the truth. When he does, his wooden nose grows longer. Sadly, this seems to be what's happening now. With this thought in mind, let me introduce you to some modern-day versions of Pinocchio.
- MAGA supporters who want to defund the FBI, but refuse to admit the Jan. 6 rioters were guilty of attacking police on the steps of the Capitol;
- Irate parents who want to ban books and fire school librarians, but admit they never have read classics like To Kill a Mockingbird or The Grapes of Wrath;
- Candidates for down ballot races who happily are photographed standing next to Holocaust deniers and QAnon promoters, but say they really don't know them;
- Electeds who claim to believe in the rule of law, but now have begun saying there will be rioting in the streets if Donald Trump is found guilty in a court of law;
- Every GOP member of Congress voted against the Inflation Reduction Act, but now each one of them is campaigning like he or she wrote the bill; and lastly,
- Women who argue against government intrusion in their bedrooms, but are fine with lawmakers reaching into every woman's womb.
You may have some of your own versions of Pinocchio. If so, I hope you'll share one or two with me.

Pinocchio time. Meet my Republican member of Congress. She voted against the Inflation Reduction Act which, among other provisions, will cap the cost of insulin at $35 a month for seniors. If you only looked at this promotional piece, you’d think she wrote the bill.
Both parties are Pinocchio in my opinion. I watch CNN, MSNBC, FOX and read many blogs from both sides of the isle on a daily basis. It is now hard to know what is true or not! My mother's Democrat party has gone so far left that I don't recognize it, and the GOP of my father has gone too far right! Our country, as a whole, hopefully is not there! I am so upset at the Trumpists, and Trump...but I am equally as upset at BIDEN and his group of thieves. What does a person like me, and I think the majority of Americans, who don't believe either party, do now?
One of George Washington's biggest fears as he left office was that the newly created political parties of the time would become so tribal that the American people would lose! In my opinion, we have been at his fear point for too long now, and it is not getting better. All these committees from both sides...what have they proven? If Trump and his people are corrupt, throw them in jail. But at the same time, what about Hunter Biden, among others? We know the laptop exists and is real! We now had a partisan FBI agent resign yesterday due to bias against Republicans, and there seems to be more coming. In the early years of J Edgar Hoover, the FBI was corrupt against the left...now it is corrupt against the right! WHERE IS JUSTICE FOR ALL?
PINOCCHIO? You bet...but let's be a little more fair, Denny!
