At 76, I am acutely aware of how much sleep I'm getting (or not getting) each night. Over time, I have come to learn two important facts:
First, I usually can cope with less sleep. Drinking coffee or skipping late nights out helps, but that doesn’t mean I'm avoiding the impact of less sleep. So far, I don't believe I have experienced memory loss or mood swings; and,
Second, the flip side (i.e., more sleep) isn’t always better either. Yes, poor-quality, short-term sleep isn’t great, but oversleeping often is linked to health problems like respiratory disease or Type 2 diabetes.
Some of my friends tell me once they lay their heads down on their pillows, they fall asleep instantly. Not only that, they don't wake up for the rest of the night. You know what I say? "Experts report that isn't sleep. That’s a coma.”
So here's my question this Sunday morning: If you are roughly my age, how much sleep are you getting these days? As always, I look forward to receiving your feedback. Thanks.

Between 7-9 hours……I am making up for the 36 years that I had to get up at 5:30 AM!
My sleep is irregular and unpredictable however, since I am 78 years old and retired I’m still always able to get a good nights sleep one way or the other. Still I find it Frustrating when sleep is delayed or interrupted.
