Like many holiday shoppers, I have purchased several items in grocery and drug stores since Gov. Newsom put in place California's latest mask mandate. Interestingly, 25% of the customers I have seen in stores the past 10-plus days haven’t been wearing masks.
I'm no lawyer or police officer, but I do know this: A statewide mandate isn't a request, it's an official order to do something. In this case, because the Omicron variant is spreading like wild fire, we all are required to wear masks indoors until mid-January. So why are people allowed to enter stores without wearing a mask?
To those people who claim the state's mask mandate is unconstitutional or that it is difficult to breathe while wearing one, let me say: The longer you refuse to follow the mask mandate guidelines, the longer the COVID pandemic is going to continue to rage. Ditto for those who refuse to get vaccinated.
I know you think of yourselves as patriots, but I don't. If you were, then you'd gladly be wearing a mask while shopping and/or rolling up your sleeves for the greater good. In my opinion, anything short of that is practically criminal.

I agree! Wear a damn mask.
