What comes in threes? Some good things like peas in a pod and some humorous things like blind mice. If you ask me, the "three" we have experienced this Labor Day weekend are neither healthy or funny. Here they are:
First, Mike Pence’s former chief of staff, Marc Short, called Donald Trump’s recent mug shot “tragic” and suggested the embattled former president has been receiving a lot of “bad counsel” lately. Pardon me for saying this, but ain't that the truth.
Second, Jimmy Buffett, affectionately known as the Mayor of Margaritaville, passed away Friday. Buffet's lighthearted lyrics and upbeat music gave people around the globe permission to celebrate "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" every morning, noon and night of the week.
And third, Bill Richardson, who served as the governor of New Mexico and Secretary of Energy before he became an international peace-maker, died in his sleep Friday night. Richardson's reputation as an honest broker and true humanitarian allowed him to talk to world leaders U.S. Presidents couldn't.
So here's to the next set of threes. I don't know when, but I'm sure they will come.
