The jury in E. Jean Carroll's civil case against Donald Trump didn't agree with her accusation of rape, but did find Trump liable for sexual abuse and defamation. As a result, the former president has been ordered to pay Carroll $5 million. Is anyone surprised Trump already has said he will appeal the verdict?
By my count, the man who lost 61 of 62 court cases nationwide after his defeat in 2020, now is 0 for 2 in Manhattan. This leaves three other cases under investigation. They are (not necessarily in any order): The fake elector scheme in Georgia; hoarding classified documents at Mar-a-Lago; and, the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Back when I was a boy, my friends and I never would have picked Trump to be on our baseball or football teams. I wish GOP lawmakers and rank and file voters felt the same way about his behavior today.
For the good of the Republican Party and the nation, here's a little something for you. Enjoy the new lyrics. With apologies to John Lennon and the Beatles. Here's my revised version of "I'm a Loser.”
"Trump's a Loser"
Trump's a loser
Trump's a loser
And he's not what he appears to be
Of all the things Trump has won or has lost
There is one soul he should never have crossed
She is a girl in a million, my friend
Trump should have known Jean would win in the end
Trump's a loser
He's lost a case he wanted to win
Trump's a loser
And he's not what he appears to be
Although he laughs and he acts like a clown
Beneath his mask he is wearing a frown
Trump's tears are falling like rain from the sky
Is it for Jean or himself that he cries?
Trump's a loser
And he's lost a case he wanted to win
Trump's a loser
And he's not what he appears to be
What has he done to deserve such a fate?
I realize Trump has left it too late
And so it's true, pride comes before a fall
I'm telling you so that you won't lose all
Trump's a loser
And he's lost a case he wanted to win
Trump's a loser
And he's not what he appears to be
