In the wake of last week's election results, I don't know who has the more difficult problem (Donald Trump or Kevin McCarthy).
The former president hasn't been shy about blaming Mitch McConnell and others for turning what was supposed to be a GOP tsunami into a red ripple. And McCarthy? Assuming Republicans regain control of the House, several MAGA members of Congress could make his dream of becoming Speaker a nightmare.
Ever since McCarthy surprised virtually everyone by visiting Trump at Mar-a-Lago three weeks after Jan. 6, the two have been locked in a strange kabuki-like dance. Sometimes they act as if they are BFFs and other times they keep their distance (like one of them just stepped in doo-doo).
It's not clear to me who needs whom most. If it really happens, I guess we'll find out after Trump announces his third run for president tomorrow.
Stay tuned.
