I posted the following on Facebook 4 years ago today. Given what’s happening in Ukraine now, my revision seems quite timely. Maybe too timely.
With sincere apologies to "Annie" and the hit song "Tomorrow" (music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin). It originally was written in 1977, but I've revised it a bit. Forgive me. I'm not trying to be irreverent. Poignant, yes. Funny, no.
Tomorrow Lyrics
The guns'll come out
Tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar
That tomorrow
There'll be guns!
Just thinkin' about
Tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs,
And the sorrow
'Til there's none!
When I'm stuck in a day
That's gray,
And lonely,
I just stick out my chin
And Grin,
And Say,
Oh
The guns'll come out
Tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on
'Til tomorrow
Come what may
Tomorrow!
Tomorrow!
I love ya
Tomorrow!
You're always
A gun
A way!
Tomorrow!
Tomorrow!
I love ya
Tomorrow!
You're always
A gun
A way!
It is time for us to begin moving away from domination as a means of solving our differences. It is not about US vs THEM...we need to be seeking the whole truths together. We need to stop using war and violence imagery as acceptable.
