Tuesday's midterm election results weren't the blowout Republicans had hoped for, nor were they the results Democrats had feared.
Personally, I was expecting something akin to the 1966 USC-Notre Dame game when the Irish crushed the Trojans 51-0.
As depressing as that score was, SC came back to win the 1967 game 24-7. I hope this will be the case for Democrats two years from now.
So, what lessons did my party learn yesterday?
First, the impact of Roe v. Wade turned out to be an important factor in several states, especially where abortion was on the ballot; and second, James Carville's 1992 message, "It's the economy, stupid," still rings true.
Just ask veteran Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen. Here's what she said two days before the midterm election: "When voters tell you over and over and over again they care mostly about the economy ... listen to them."
Yes, listen. With this thought in mind, I urge my party's leaders to immediately shop for over-the-counter hearing aids at CVS, Walgreens, Best Buy or Walmart.
Thankfully, the GOP tsunami many pundits predicted never materialized on Tuesday; still, I believe Democrats will find those hearing aids extremely helpful between now and 2024.

I'm so happy about the local election for City Council as it shows there are still consequences
for behaving badly and being arrogant.
Happy surprises for the Dems in State elections.
