In the fall of 1966, my freshman year at USC, the Fighting Irish walloped the Trojans 51-0 in the Coliseum. The next year, SC not only beat Notre Dame in South Bend, we ended the season as national champs.
To all those who are now saying the Eagles convincing Super Bowl win over the Chiefs yesterday means it's curtains for Andy Reid's team, don't believe them. Yes, Philadelphia's DEI strategy (i.e., defense, execution, and interceptions) was flawless. The Eagles held the Chiefs to a dismal 23 yards and 0 points on the board in the first two quarters, while scoring 24 unanswered points by halftime. I don't know for sure, but I’m guessing TV viewership dropped dramatically before the third quarter began.
Statistics aside, remember this: Sports in general, and football in particular, have a way of surprising you. Just ask the Trojans who played in the 1967 game against the Irish. A lot can happen in a year.

P.S. While on the topic of sports, baseball is about to begin. Will this be the year my Giants make a comeback?
OK, OK...let's get real here. GM might release a great EV; 47 may decide Musk has gone too far and exile him to Epstein's private island; the Democrats may sweep the mid-terms in both chambers. But the Giants beat the Dodgers? Miracles DO happen, but not that one. Not this year.
