If you were attending an interruption-free Zen retreat yesterday, then I'm guessing you might have questions about Donald Trump's arraignment today.
According to New York Times opinion columnist David French, here's a very, very, very brief recap of the case against the former president:
Donald Trump entered into a scheme with his attorney Michael Cohen and other individuals to suppress damaging information about extramarital affairs, in the hopes of influencing the 2016 presidential election.
This scheme included a number of unlawful actions, including falsifying business records to conceal the nature of hush-money payments made to the adult film actress Stormy Daniels, violating federal campaign finance law and New York state election law (and potentially New York state tax laws).
I believe everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty (including Trump). The question I want answered is this: Back in September, Forbes estimated the former president's worth at $3.2 billion. If that is true, then why does he keep asking his supporters for money?
Maybe it's because the falsifying business records/hush-money matter isn't the only trial Trump is facing. For starters, he'll be in court later this month fighting a rape charge. Who knows when the Fulton County D.A. will file charges in the Georgia fake elector scheme or Jack Smith will announce his findings in the Jan. 6 insurrection or classified documents investigations?
To be sure, much of what Trump is accused of is morally wrong (i.e., sleazy). But is it unlawful? The wheels of justice often grind slowly. I guess we all will have to wait to find out.

This is a fake mugshot of the former president. The t-shirt went on sale yesterday. You can have one for $47. Why the strange amount? Because if Trump wins the 2024 presidential election, he will become the 47th POTUS.
Maybe he wants to go to jail with a massive fortune in Eric's pocket? He's going to be paying lawyers for years if he doesn't go to jail. I'm sure this worse nightmare right now is that Alvin Bragg is black.
