The New York Times recently published a letter from Lisa Scully of Glen Cove, New York. Ms. Scully asked two questions: First, couldn't the money recently spent to fly the Speaker of the House and her delegation to Ukraine be put to better use? And second, what good will come from Nancy Pelosi meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky?
Lest the lady from New York has forgotten, or doesn't know, the Speaker is first in line behind the vice president should the president become incapacitated or die in office. Her position is far from ceremonial. In short, she is responsible for sending to the floor of the House all government spending measures. This includes both the annual federal budget as well as supplemental requests (like the $33 billion President Biden is now asking Congress to approve for Ukraine). With all due respect to Vice President Harris, I dare say this makes Nancy Pelosi the most powerful woman in America.
In my opinion, whatever it cost to travel to Ukraine, so the Speaker and her congressional colleagues could assess funding needs going forward, the trip was worth every penny. More important than what I think, Ms. Scully, ask President Zelensky. I'm sure he would say the same thing.

Omg the money spent our our last Pres. Golf games could pay for the War. Why didn't anyone care then?
