Do you remember when Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar were among many candidates running for president? Seems like a long time ago, doesn't it?
When Biden defeated his last primary rival and was declared the Democratic Party's 2020 presidential nominee, people coast to coast began to ask, "Who will Joe pick as his running mate?"
Because she was from the all-important mid-West, my money was on the senator from Minnesota (Klobuchar). That is, until she quickly took herself out of contention.
Knowing full well Biden intended on naming a female to the ticket, I began looking at Val Demings, the Congressswoman from Florida.
Having watched her during the first Trump impeachment trial, I knew she was a woman of substance.
While Demings obviously wasn't picked to be Biden's vice presidential running mate, that didn't mean her political future was over. Far from it.
Today, the lawmaker from the Sunshine State is running to unseat GOP incumbent Marco Rubio as Florida's next U.S. Senator.
If Demings wins next year, her victory won't just send shockwaves through the Republican Party, it also means she'll likely inspire other Democratic candidates to challenge establishment GOP rivals in 2024.
I've heard it said that politics is the art of the possible. If that is true, then I think it's highly possible Val Demings will become Florida's next U.S. Senator.
And you say???

I will def be supporting her! I hope all y'all do as well. Send money, if you don't live in Florida. If you have friends there, enlist them. Do whatever you can do to get Rubio out of office & put a little quake in the Republicans' boots.
