Save Democracy. Period.

I was having a root canal consult when the president was giving his address to the nation Thursday night. After learning the procedure wasn’t necessary, I rushed home to watch a video replay of his speech and then write the following.

In case you’re wondering, my first letter ran in The Times back in 1973. It was my reaction to the passing of LBJ. Since then, I have had more than 100 letters and opinion pieces published in the paper.

Only in America can someone of my limited ability speak his mind freely. As far as I am concerned, democracy rules. Full stop.
