People often ask me why I write so much. The simple answer is because I can. The more complicated answer is because my hobby turned into an addiction decades ago. That said, not all my submissions get published. Here’s one that did last week and a few that didn’t. Take good care. DF
Published Letter in Stu News Newport May 26:
No matter who beat whom, last Thursday's water polo in the bay was the big winner. To tell the truth, I didn't know if 50 people would show up to watch the matches, but I'm guessing the number turned out to be more like 250. High fives all around to those who made this possible. I can't wait to see who plays next year. Water polo rules.

Unpublished Letter to the Editor:
If you ask me, sentencing Stewart Rhodes to 18 years in prison for sedition isn't long enough. It's not like Donald Trump asked his supporters to sing protest songs at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. No, Mr. Trump urged his followers to "fight like hell" to prevent the peaceful transfer of power following the 2020 election. Because Rhodes and his gang of thugs were more than happy to take up arms against America that fateful day, my hope is we never see or hear from him (or them) again.

Unpublished Letter to the Editor:
Now that South Carolina Senator Tim Scott has entered the Republican presidential campaign, I wonder how long it will take a reporter to ask him the following question: Do you agree with, or do you object to, your governor's recent statement that Democrats should be hunted with dogs? Some say that comment was meant to be funny, but I'm not laughing. Words matter, so I'll be anxious to hear what Sen. Scott has to say.

Since Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas failed to report the 2014 sale of his mother's house to Billionaire Harlan Crow, did he also fail to report the profit he realized on his 2014 federal income tax returns? Just wondering.
