According to the National Committee on Pay Equity, women are now geting paid approximately 80 percent of what men get paid when doing the same job. So if it's acceptable to pay women 20 percent less coast to coast, imagine the uproar if female members of Congress were paid 20 percent less than their male counterparts? If that was the case, I'm convinced a federal pay equity bill would sail thru Congress and land on the president's desk in a matter of days. (So you know, the Paycheck Fairness Act was passed by the House in April. The bill is in a Senate Committee now.)
