Yesterday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said this about Jan. 6: "The attack on the U.S. Capitol was not an insurrection." He then blamed the press for having "spun up" the attack to "get as much mileage out of it and use it for partisan and political aims."
I never did well in my English classes; but, I don't need Webster's to tell me what an insurrection is. To date, more than 1,000 people have been charged with crimes linked to the 2021 attack in Washington. Given that nearly half of them have pleaded guilty for their roles in storming the Capitol in an effort to prevent the peaceful transfer of power, I'd say that more than defines the term.
Back in March, DeSantis incorrectly said the war in Ukraine was a "territorial dispute." I'm not sure a presidential candidate who doesn't know what an insurrection is or what a real war is, should ever occupy the Oval Office.
I wonder what you think?
