Earlier today, I watched a few minutes of the 1961 (original) West Side Story on HBO. It occurred to me a second update should be made (following Steven Spielberg’s recent remake) which I saw and liked months ago. This time, I thought, the two rival gangs should be the Israelis and the Palestinians.

Hours later I read this in The Hill: “The United States confirmed on Friday that leaders from Palestine and Israel held their first phone call in five years.”

I’m not saying their call should immediately become a Broadway musical, but what are the odds I’d be thinking about world leaders Abbas and Lapid while watching West Side Story, and then read about them online four hours later?

Like I’ve said many times before, this kind of thing happens to me all the time (since high school if you’d like to know). I don’t consider it a curse, but I do wonder why the universe picked me? Oh, and in case you need reminding, I don’t pick stocks.
