What's with the rapid increase in gas prices? Unless you've been riding around on an ebike or a skateboard, neither of which I recommend if you are over the age of 65, you know the price of gas has skyrocketed lately. So much so, it's nearly $2 a gallon more here than the national average. The Big Five oil companies reported $55 billion in combined profits for the second quarter of this year. How much more do they need?
Last March, there was talk in Sacramento about the state issuing checks to consumers ranging from $250 to $400 to help offset the high cost of gas at the pump. Well, it's October and no one I know has received a dime. If this wasn't so serious, it would be laughable. Trouble is, it's enough to make a grown person cry.

I took this photo yesterday in Laguna. In some cities, gas now costs $7 a gallon. Any guess as to when the price will drop? Some experts say it may take months. Yikes!
