Here’s a reminder: CPAC is the acronym for the Conservative Political Action Conference.
Finally, what's been whispered for several years is now being shouted in public. If you don't believe me, this is what Jack Posobiec, a self-proclaimed, far-right conspiracy theorist, said at CPAC's annual meeting earlier this week: "Welcome to the end of democracy. We're here to overthrow it."
Which leads me to believe that if Donald Trump wins in November, Posobiec and his good friend, Steve Bannon, will be jumping out of their skin because their second step -- to destroy democracy -- will be close at hand.
Let's be clear: Posobiec and his followers don't give a damn about conservatives, mainstream Republicans or the rule of law. No. They are actively working to replace the glue that has held America together for nearly 250 years (democracy) with duct tape that surely will rot, leaving this country and its time-honored institutions in shambles (authoritarianism).
Wake up America. Jan. 6 was just the warm-up act for these anti-democratic fanatics. If I'm right -- that they believe people like my friends who are longtime, card-carrying members of the GOP have betrayed them -- then here's a bulletin: You aren't safe. Eventually the Posobiecs of the world will want to restrict your right to vote and travel. Then, in the dark of night, they will break down your door. This is the way authoritarian devotees always work.
This isn't the America I want my children and grandchildren to inherit. My guess is you don't want that, either. So let's stop whispering. It's time to publicly shout, "I Stand for Democracy." Period. Full stop.

I just don't see how anyone can ignore the evidence that trump and his pals will destroy democracy. People just don't believe that anything like this will happen. How do we wake them up? Every judge and jury can't be wrong - he's a liar, a grifter, misogynist. If your children kept saying, not me, someone else, wouldn't you get a little suspicious? Where's there's smoke there is fire.
