Life is full of ups and downs. My trip to Seattle this past week was no exception. First, my sister-in-law of 55 years died yesterday. Alene had been ill for a long time, so it’s a blessing she passed away. Thankfully, my oldest brother’s son and daughter will be with him as he manages the next several weeks. Ditto my son, Tyler, who is nearby as well (although he has his hands full). That’s the up part of this posting.
The purpose of my trip was to meet my 6-week-old granddaughter, Evie, for the first time. What a bundle of love. She is alert and very interested in the world around her. I wasn’t sure how long Evie would last during our family reunion, but Ty and Emily kept her going for nearly 90 minutes.
Among those in attendance were my other son, Spencer, and his bride Chelsea. Their big news is, despite being married just 3 months, they are expecting a baby boy in March. So, how’s that for heartbreak and heartthrobs?
Hard to believe summer’s almost over. This year, I am especially looking forward to fall. It’s one thing to watch the leaves turn color, but it’s another thing to get geared up for college football and the World Series. Oh, and election season. Anyone have any predictions about November’s results?

Congratulations & condolences...it seems somehow appropriate that you got to experience the Great Circle all at once, and with so much family.
