Rep. Liz Cheney and I disagree on many, if not most, bread and butter political issues. But I am 1000% behind the Wyoming lawmaker when it comes to her votes to impeach Donald Trump and (her) passionate defense of our small "d" democratic principles.
If those who support Trump's Big Lie turn out to vote in August, Cheney most likely will lose her primary fight in The Equality State. And while I haven't heard her say so, I'm guessing she will be OK with that. Cheney knows candidates come and go, but not democracy. It was designed by the Founding Fathers to outlive us all. If only the insurrectionists who stormed the U.S. Capitol last year believed that.
Liz Cheney is a remarkable American. She deserved to receive the Kennedy "Profile in Courage Award" last month along with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Both leaders understand the importance democracy plays in a civil society. If it continues to be marginalized at best or lost at worst, as many people here at home believe is now possible, then what will take its place? Nothing good, I assure you.
So keep up the good fight, Liz. I hope I speak for many of my Democratic Party friends when I say we have your back.

Maybe she could run in the general election as an independent. Many Republicans would vote for her, and many undecideds and conservative Democrats who are looking for smart candidate that represents middle American values. She has, no doubt, a huge war chest (so I've heard), and has clearly identified herself as the conservative antithesis to the MAGA crowd. I don't know that there's an actual Democrat that would out pull her. Just a thought.
Nice job Denny. You didn't mention yourself once!!!
