Given that Florida's 6-week abortion ban is scheduled to become state law later this week, I wonder how many women will realize they are pregnant within the 42 day threshold? My guess is close to zero.
The same is true for men. There is virtually no way they will know if their one-night stand or longtime partner is pregnant. The legal implications for both men and women are enormous, especially if a national abortion ban ever becomes the law of the land.
Women know that when abortion is on the ballot, it truly impacts voter turnout. This was true in 2022 and 2023 in states like Michigan and New Jersey. But what about men? How would they react if a ban on vasectomies or closing sperm banks reached the Supreme Court? Would they simply roll their eyes or actively protest? I'm guessing the latter.
If you ask me, the missing argument over abortion is equal protection for all. If state lawmakers, who are mostly men, continue voting to severely limit a woman's right to end her pregnancy, then shouldn't these same elected officials make men outlaws for seeking medical procedures that prevent them from becoming fathers?
Making government the arbiter of truth when it comes to family planning is as wrong-headed for men as it is for women. That said, I seriously doubt state lawmakers ever will venture near a man's genitals. If only they had kept their distance when it comes to a woman's womb.

This issue is going to bring women to the polls like no other can. I have never not voted in my entire life but I have faith that women especially in red states are not going to sit this one out.
How about making it illegal to impregnate a woman that you aren’t married to? Or criminalizing both the mother and father if a woman seeks an abortion outside the grace period for an abortion ?
