Background
Monday's report from the special counsel is the culmination of John Durham's four-year investigation that 45 claimed would expose massive wrongdoing by law enforcement and intelligence officials. Instead, Durham's investigation delivered underwhelming results, with prosecutors securing a guilty plea from a little-known FBI employee but losing the only two criminal cases they took to trial. So much for Donald Trump and his supporters wildly chanting "Lock her up" during the 2016 presidential campaign. While it is highly unlikely, I wonder if DT ever will apologize to Hillary Clinton for his unfounded accusations back then?
My reaction
John Durham's two prosecutions ended up, in baseball lingo, as strikeouts. Regarding the final report he issued yesterday, the almost mighty Mr. Durham has struck out a third time. Clearly, there is no joy in TrumpLand. I wish this would end the investigation, but I have a feeling we will be heading into extra innings.
