If you are one of those critics who says Joe Biden suffers from dementia, then I say "Eat it." (That, of course, is a line from Weird Al Yankovic's redo of the smash hit "Beat it" by Michael Jackson.)
Biden may be a lot of things, but he proved he still has it when it comes to high-stakes negotiating. No better example exists than his ability to raise the debt ceiling for two years, thus preventing it from becoming a political pinata during next year's presidential election.
Personally, I didn't think the president could pull off such a maneuver. That is until I heard Lawrence O'Donnell lay out the two-year scenario several days ago on his program "The Last Word" on MSNBC. O'Donnell opined this was Joe Biden's plan all along. I have to say, the former Senate finance staffer was right. The president stuck by his instincts until Kevin McCarthy and his GOP negotiators agreed (notice I didn't say "caved").
The 2024 election will be about any number of issues, but the debt ceiling won't be one of them. Kudos to Joe Biden. If he has dementia, then Webster's is going to need to redefine it in next year's dictionary.

I haven’t read enough about it yet, but I am inclined to agree.
I totally agree!
