This is NOT the way I want to start my week. According to an article in The Hill, nearly one in three Americans say it may be necessary to take up arms against the government.
According to a new poll from the University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics, two-thirds of Republicans and independents say the government is “corrupt and rigged against everyday people like me,” compared to 51 percent of liberal voters.
The poll also reports these chlling numbers: Twenty-eight percent of all voters, including 37 percent of gun owners, agreed “it may be necessary at some point soon for citizens to take up arms against the government,” a view held by around 35 percent of Republicans and around 35 percent of Independents. One in five Democrats concurred.
If you ask me, all this begs two important questions: First, what is happening to our beloved country; and second, what kind of America will our children and grandchildren inherit?

The problem is that we have no honest leadership in this country. People have lost faith in their electeds and their government. No, we have been electing people with little or no character. People who are easily swayed by money or attention. It is our fault. When only 20% of voters turn out in an election, no one does just a little research about who they are voting for. We, the people are responsible. We need to find ways that help people understand how important being in Congress is and why we need to vote for people of character.
Well, it goes to show how deep the dissatisfaction with the government - and politicians specifically - the American people have become over the last 40+ years. Politicians have done little to move the country forward, and the government has become a tool of the wealthy.
Some want to return to the mythical past and reclaim the rugged pioneer spirit that "Made America Great" while others want to move forward into the New Frontier as promised by JFK (and others) to "Make America Great Again".
But most of us are tired of the Do-Nothing congress and administration after administration that do little beyond enriching themselves at the expense of American taxpayers.
