Gov. Cuomo's plan to build the Essential Workers Monument makes sense to me. Honoring nurses, doctors, teachers, grocery clerks, police and many others who died from COVID will serve as a permanent reminder heroes come in all sizes, shapes and colors. My only question is this: When will we build a national monument honoring the more than 550,000 moms, dads, grandparents and children who contracted the virus and have passed away? Considering so many of them died alone, I believe this memorial would provide closure to millions of their family members and friends tragically left behind.
