Readers respond to Question of the Week: Are you watching the House hearings? Yes, I am watching

Not because I want to see Donald Trump locked up for inciting an insurrection, but because the Constitution allows someone like me the opportunity to express himself without fear of retribution (or worse). This is why I say, “democracy matters.” It is the engine that makes everything work in America.

No, not watching

I am not watching the political theater called the “Select Committee to Investigate the Attack on the United States Capitol.” I did watch most of the first night, but didn’t learn anything new. I give the committee credit for correctly naming itself. It appears they “selected” only members who believe they will be able to charge Donald Trump with something criminal.

I believe the hearings would be more interesting and credible if it was a bi-partisan effort to get to the facts.
