Back on July 15, I urged the House Select Committee investigating Jan. 6 to subpoena Donald Trump and Mike Pence. Here's part of what I wrote:
“I don't care what key White House advisors like Mark Meadows, Stephen Miller or Kayleigh McEnany think the president or vice president were doing when the "stop the steal" mob was attacking Congress. No, I want hear what both Trump and Pence have to say, under oath, about the administration's reactions to the rioters' plans -- when each of them first heard about the plans, who they talked to in the days leading up to the insurrection, and what advice, if any, they gave the organizers and more.”
With these thoughts in mind, I hope you will read today's timely FreidomReport post.
All roads lead to Donald Trump
Like millions of Americans coast to coast, I watched every minute of every hearing the Jan. 6 committee conducted. It wasn't until Cassidy Hutchinson, a twenty-something assistant to former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, testified that I truly understood the contempt Donald Trump and his cronies, like John Eastman, Rudy Giuliani, Michael Flynn and Sydney Powell, had for the Constitution and the rule of law.
Despite the rejection of 61 courts and being told by numerous senior campaign aides, White House and Department of Justice legal experts that he had lost the 2020 election, Mr. Trump and his friends conspired to prevent the peaceful transfer of power. Ironically, the "peaceful" part of the transfer of power was deliberately interrupted by the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol.
I am not an attorney, but I know right from wrong. It is clear the former president violated numerous federal and state election laws, each one of which was designed to support his Big Lie and overturn the results of the presidential election. Unless Donald Trump and his lawless cronies are tried for crimes against the nation, it is possible another Jan. 6-like insurrection could happen again. If you ask me, this is both unacceptable and un-American.

Finally a subpoena...
