Georgia Rep. Andrew Clyde recently said, “There were some rioters, and some who committed acts of vandalism. But let me be clear, there was no insurrection and to call it an insurrection in my opinion, is a bold-faced lie.”
“Watching the TV footage of those who entered the Capitol and walked through Statuary Hall showed people in an orderly fashion staying between the stanchions and ropes, taking videos, pictures,” Clyde continued. “You know, if you didn’t know the TV footage was a video from January the 6th, you would actually think it was a normal tourist visit.”
I worked on Capitol Hill in 1972, and have walked the halls of Congress numerous times since. Never have I seen hundreds of "tourists" storm the Capitol steps, smash windows, injure 140 police officers or break into lawmakers' offices. And never, never, never have I seen hundreds of "tourists" pursued and arrested for their unlawful actions on what Rep. Clyde characterizes as a normal day in Washington.
Make no mistake about it. The Georgia lawmaker wants you to believe the Capitol Hill riot, which left 5 people dead, really never happened. The only trouble is we witnessed it with our own eyes. I, for one, never will forget what happened Jan. 6. Neither should you.

Of COURSE Republicans want us to forget about it. They were a huge reason it happened and are culpable.
