I have two questions about leaks ...
First, it's been nearly two months since Justice Alito's Roe v. Wade draft opinion was leaked in early May. Whatever happened to the investigation to find the leaker? Given the number of people who work at the Supreme Court, how many of the 500 to 1,000 employees would have access to Alito's draft? My guess is 100 to 200.
If that's true, then how long could it take to administer lie detector tests to each of them? At a rate of 15 a day, it would take about two weeks. So here's my question: Is there really an investigation taking place to find the leaker?
Second, when the news about today's Jan. 6 committee hearing was announced yesterday, everyone was tight lipped about who the witness would be. I immediately guessed White House counsel Pat Cipollone or White House chief of staff assistant Cassidy Hutchinson. Turns out my radar still is working. Leaked reports indicate it's going to be Hutchinson.
Don't look to her to receive holiday cards from several members of Congress this December. That's because she was in the room with Mark Meadows and lawmakers when the notion of fake electors was discussed. As she detailed in video testimony last week, Hutchinson also was the person many, if not all, of those same electeds went through to request presidential pardons for their actions.
On this day in 1870, Congress created four federal holidays (New Year's Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day). Interestingly, they initially were applicable only to federal employees. If you ask me, it's going to take a lot more than a holiday to find out who leaked the Alito opinion or how many members of Congress knew they were acting illegally leading up to Jan. 6, 2021.
