Back when I held marketing and communications positions with SCAN Health Plan and the Press-Telegram, I spent nearly a decade commuting between Laguna and Long Beach. That said, if you are having trouble wrapping your arms around the impact the coronavirus is having, consider this:
The 500,000 COVID-related deaths nationwide is the equivalent of wiping out the entire population of Long Beach. Put another way, if every one of those deaths was represented by a piece of paper, that pillar would soar more than 165 ft. in the air. That’s almost as tall as the iconic Walter Pyramid on campus at CSULB.
Every COVID death is one too many. I wonder if there ever will be a memorial erected to honor those who have died during the pandemic?
