Today marks the third time an attorney in the Georgia election fraud scandal has pleaded guilty. Following in the footsteps of Sidney Powell and Kenneth Chesebro, Jenna Ellis will be required to testify under oath against the likes of Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman, Mark Meadows and possibly Donald Trump. I say "possibly" because it has yet to be proven that the former president actually knew/approved what his lawyers were doing to overturn the 2020 election results in The Peach State.
At the same time Ellis was appearing in court today, Republicans in the House voted to select Rep. Tom Emmer as their third Speaker nominee. This, after Reps. Steve Scalise and Jim Jordan flamed out last week. I have no idea if Emmer has the 217 votes it will take to become Speaker, but I do know this: Until and unless someone is duly elected to the position, the House cannot conduct the nation's business. This means no votes can be taken on a comprehensive government spending bill, as well as aid to Israel or Ukraine.
If you ask me, odds are other defendants in the Georgia election fraud case will plead guilty. For the good of the country, my hope is a Speaker will be elected soon. If it's not Tom Emmer, then who might it be? Has anyone talked to George W. Bush lately?
